屋上緑化における失敗事例を、個別論ではなく構造的に整理する技術解説サイトです。
A neutral technical site that analyzes rooftop greening failures from a structural perspective.

1. What Are “Structural Causes”?

What Is Meant by “Structural Causes” on This Site

On this site, the term “structural causes” does not refer to specific products, construction methods, or the skill level—good or bad—of individual contractors.

What we examine instead is how multiple decisions made at the early stages of planning and design are structured, and what assumptions those decisions are based on.

Specifically, we focus on the accumulation of judgments that are often overlooked when considered individually, such as:

・How the rooftop environment is understood
・On what conditions and principles plants are selected
・How systems, plants, and operations are combined and related
・What assumptions underlie expectations of warranties and inspections
・How aging and future renewal are anticipated

Many failures in rooftop greening do not occur suddenly after construction.
Rather, they are the result of assumptions and decisions made during the planning stage that remained fragmented, only to surface gradually over time.

This site does not seek to determine “what went wrong.”
Instead, its purpose is to reconsider why a particular outcome occurred, by understanding it as a structural consequence of prior judgments.
